BACK THE COMEBACKS!!

There are plenty of occasions where a girl or a woman, especially in India has to stand up for herself for basics. Be it getting an opportunity to move to bigger cities for higher studies or taking up a job after the studies or the million-dollar question; will she be allowed to work post marriage? Life throws different curveballs at different stages to a Woman and the only option she is left with is to face it.

One of the major issues, a Woman faces these days, which is not as highlighted as the issues mentioned above is Career hiatus; a period when she chooses not to have a job, for a personal reason. The reason could be, especially in the case of a woman; pregnancy, childbirth, to take care of children or the elderly. While economic empowerment is still a dream of many, but for the ones who are educated and were working, such a career break makes it difficult to maintain a stable career graph. Since a woman navigates various phases of her life, Marriage and motherhood often make her put her career on the back burner. This is one area in a woman’s career that gets her into a state of turbulence. The fingers working at the lightning speed on the keyboard get busy in making baby food and a span of say 2 to 3 years is just gone by.

However, for those, who want to re-enter the workforce; it isn’t a walk in the park, especially because of the negative implication associated with a career hiatus. Things to be considered here, these are the proven talents, experienced talents, and can contribute meaningfully to the Organization if given an opportunity. Any initiative in this direction would pave the way for a woman’s second inning. They can get into the rhythm of reconciling their personal as well as professional lives as they are walking back into their working life. Having recognized the need, VERVE is doing its bit and trying to get them confidently back into the workforce.  The experience has been good so far as we found that the returnees have both, work experience and life experience. They have got a more mature perspective alongside the wisdom which in turn benefits the organization.  Since they are joining after a break; they have a hunger to work with more energy, dedication, and focus.  
 

It’s time to back these comebacks to make them sprung back with all their might to land on their feet.
